Exterior Secunda Major

A royal shuttle left slipspace, and began its journey towards the system Capital. A week and six days since it had left Sanctuary, on a journey of education for its royal occupant. Heinrich Oaklen was sent to Secunda Major to learn about the industrial complex operated by the Mining Guild in the system.

Shuttle Interior

A Gynoid walks towards the ship’s communications and presses a button. “My lord? We have made it to Secunda Major, and will be momentarily heading to the docking bay of the station that contains the System’s capital, rather than the Military base on the moon, Arusi! ” She reported then waited for him to respond to her report. When Heinrich left the area where he was currently located, he found two of the guards waiting for him to escort him to the airlocks.

They bowed to him. “My lord!” they said in unison before leading him. “A Mining Guild representative is on the other side of the airlock waiting to guide you to the branch headquarters, I believe we are to head there first, to meet up with the Branch Head Murakinos himself. We believe the one actually taking you on the actual trip is someone else.” Said the guard at Heinrich’s right side.

“Please, you don’t have to call me lord, I prefer last name if you must be so formal”, the prince seemed to sigh, really hating the pampering the royal treatment. It was an exhausting endeavor, and it wasn’t like he had some important station to uphold or anything, he was just next in line was all. Only reason he was here was to meet a new friend he had made on a previous trip, and to learn more about these corners of the nation’s core influence. A small part of him hoped it was Draco waiting on the other side, as the airlock began its cycling of atmosphere.

“We apologize, our training required us to refer you by the proper title” The other replied as they waited for the airlock to open, when it had, a Mouse Genemod waited who immediately bowed. “my-“ she was interrupted by a quick message one of the guards sent “friend! Branch Head Murakinos is expecting you’ she said and immediately she led the way to the turbo lift doors.

In front of them, a little girl was eating ice cream, but she tripped on something and it fell. The girl's mother checked on her daughter but ignored the mess. Suddenly a strange insectoid appeared and simply walked over it, and after the creature passed by The gene mod looked at Heinrich “Strážce” The word comes from a very old land on old Hassan, it means custodian or keeper, they can be found on stations like this, cities, though I don’t know if they are found in Obsidian city and businesses. They help keep the place clean, and-“ The poor Mouse was interrupted by a loud voice “SHOW SOME RESPECT YOU DUNG SWINE!” if they looked, they’d seen a teenager embarrassed as they put garbage into the garbage can. “you are respectful” it appeared to be the insectoid was found to be saying and it took the now full garbage. “They also admonish people for littering, but they aren’t sentient, just programmed. They’re one of the three Biomechanical beings in the system.” The gene mod said and led the way to the lift.

A little boy with an infant carried by his mother got in with them, and the lift went up and in no time at all, the mouse gene mod was leading Heinrich out of the lift to a waiting car on the street from the plaza they appeared in. They would soon see the branch Headquarters ahead of them.

Once they arrived, the Mouse led them to the Branch Head office, where they met Securo, a man who appeared to have graying hair and a small beard, “Welcome to Secunda Major, sir! I am honored for your presence.” Securo said. “I believe you’re here to learn about our facilities and-“ a buzz came on, causing Securo to smile” Excellent, she has arrived” He pressed a button, and in walked Draco.

“Hello, Heinie!” Draco said, causing her father to gasp, mostly not expecting her to say that, and the guards also reacted the same way. “I was just telling the crown prince about how he was here to learn about the Mining Guild’s industrial complex, but I was thinking, Draco, how about you take him on a tour?”

Draco nods “Sure! I’d be happy to, plus since you mentioned to me and Mom the other day that he was, I got some things prepared!” Draco’s words caused Securo to smile. “Good, then I shall leave our crown prince in your prepared and capable hands.

Oh by the gods, why are they making everything such a fuss about that, I just want to be treated normally thank you. “Yes I am sir, and I hope I have not caused you any inconvenience in asking for this either”, Heinrich spoke, first addressing Securo politely before turning to Draco. “Also it is a pleasure to see you again Draco, I hope you have been well since Andraeste?” After all, it had been weeks since then, perhaps even a couple of months now that he thought about it, given the proceedings that took place from the events of that trip. Then there was the wedding a bit after as well…

Life truly had been chaotic since then, and something also made him feel as that might be true about today as well. It was almost like this gut feeling he got now, when his life was about to take another unexpected turn, or addition to the focuses that it revolved around. None to date had ever sidetracked his plans, but they certainly added more to them, and the work to bring said plans to fruition. The prince would just have to see how that panned out, and which meeting with her today would lead to.

Securo just smiled at him, “Not at all, the Mining Guild is only too happy to assist as it always will, ” he commented as Draco also smiled as he greeted her. “Yes, I have been mostly busy with training, making sure my sisters are kept out of trouble, and learning as well as having fun.” she said as she approached him, and gently took his arm in her own. “I hear you’ve been busy too, ” she said as she began leading Heinrich out of her father’s office. The guards were dismissed, claiming space issues for what she’d planned. Draco wouldn’t insult her father or Heinrich’s own father by allowing him to come to harm, so as they went down to the lobby of the branch Headquarters they were alone.

“How is Gale and that cute fox, I believe her name was Asteri? How are they doing since we last spoke?” she asked as she continued to leaving.

Once they had cleared out of the office and were on their own, Heinrich answered, “Well Asteri is pregnant now. As well as another wife of mine. So yeah, I've been making some arrangements on top of things.” The lobby was as ornate as expected of a high standing company, Novel’s handiwork no doubt at that. Not surprising for the company that filled the nation’s coffers, and supplied the majority of material for industrial use.

“What about you though, you seem as lively as ever? And I do apologize for how brief of a meeting the previous one had to be, deeply so, but the matter was pressing to return home with.” Not to mention that they had in fact faced a situation of dangerous circumstances, which his father and uncle were far more than unpleased about. Though even then, that was perhaps putting their thoughts, a bit too mild even.

Draco smiled as she discovered that Asteri was pregnant, and not only that, but another wife of his. “aww, Asteri and your kids will be adorable!” She said with a smile as they soon found herself in a car once more. “And it's ok, I understood given the situation explained to Silvana and I. That just means we could arrange another meeting between me and the others.” She said adjusting her glasses to keep them from slipping.

“I hadn’t seen Silvy in a while, between her work and my training, we don’t get much, but I always make sure to make time for her when able. I also spend time helping dad with things, this right now is one of the more funner things I get to do.”

“Oh my, think that’s the first time someone has tagged me as fun. Most people find my normal side quite boorish, owing to being a history teacher and all as my day job”, Heinrich replied as they climbed into said car, settling in with a chuckle as he did. “A lot of the historic bits that I’ll learn today will be going into further lessons for instance.” If he was going to learn, you could more then certainly expect the prince to torture the class with such things as well, as after all it was the duty of an educator.

Draco grinned at him as he confirmed that his job was that of a history teacher. “I loved that class before my demon half’s magic activated and my education was modified to add magical control and training added to it in my youth,” she said as her grin widened. “I’m happy to hear that a lot of the historic bits you’ll learn today will be added, because a part of what I am going to show you has to do with history.”

She said with a grin as she felt renewed excitement. The car stopped at the plaza where once more the two got into a lift. “MG 3423” Draco said and the lift took them down to an empty docking bay save for a single Stork transport. She led the way in, and on a screen detailing listing for people, it showed Miners Draco Murakinos and Heinrich Oaklen. “Let's get you seated, and then..’ she said as she pressed a button. “Watch this,” She said as soon as they began sitting on seats that were clearly enhanced memory foam plush seating.

The crown prince settled back into the seemingly enveloping seat, “What is it” he asked simply as he did so. Heinrich was curious at what she had planned exactly, or just what all he was going to see on the tour. The in-flight film as it seemed, was definitely not on the list of things he had thought to expect though. Maybe it was a pre-made documentary related to the company’s history?

Heirich would find that the screen enlarged and soon found himself still in his seat. “In the beginning, when our explorers first found Secunda Major, all they could see was a vast asteroid field, contained in this system. This brought questions, how was it formed, why did it remain in the system? Was it the sun, keeping the asteroids here? All those were asked, and as the Mining Gild’s miners worked, they began noticing, something shining off in the distance.” Draco said, and Heinrich would see the ship moving through the fields until it came to the ice world, Frostopia. “Then, Explorers went out to look, and found this world, and that started answering some questions they had. How the sun kept the asteroids in system, and how the ice world kept them in line” Draco said doing her best impression of a history teacher.

“Once the Capital City as formed and the colonists, and new Miners came, they put up a contest for names for the ice world and it became Frostopia, and the mining guild updated its techniques, not only would they mine in asteroids and on a planetary surface, but they will form companies to collect the water from the ice world, and those on asteroids. But as you know, Frostopia isn’t the only planet in the system now.” Indeed, Heinrich likely knew well that Secunda Major had three planets. “With the leftover rocks, from what was left of Station Omacron, they decided to create a planet, using the technology at our disposal, and magic, including a new magic technology, which it turns out, mother had given dad, which helped in the process” she said and as she spoke both Prazoa was shown in front of them. “of course, they had to fight to keep it when the rogue planet, now named Pele had arrived.” She said, and as she spoke, the screen showed the transport landing on an asteroid.

All of it was a bit wondrous, never having seen anything like in all the centuries he had been alive. The war left such a desolate place to grow up in, that the world he was awakened to out of thaw, was a paradise in comparison. In many ways, he wished his family had lived to see such amazing miracles of technology, and magic which had only ever been the material of fairy tales before. Part of him becoming a teacher of history, was in a way, to make sure those who never made it this far were never forgotten. Heinrich was sure that his class could tell whenever the massacre of New Troy came up, it was always a hard one for him, and a sensitive topic despite how he went through the lesson with more passion then others.

Draco smiled as she watched his reaction to what she was telling him. She’d heard in History class about the destruction of New Troy, and remembered hearing from sources, perhaps Silvana, that Heinrich was born there. She wondered about his feelings and thought that she shouldn’t ask. “Now that the history portion is done, unless you want to watch a video of them fighting with Pele, to keep it from causing problems, come with me a second.. And we will do things I'm sure no one has asked you to do” Draco said as she got up and walked to the back, where there were two ready ANT Power Armor.

“This is the Mining Guild’s Industrial Power Armor, and for the next few.. We will be wearing it, and you’ll get to experience a miner at work, ” she said with a smile as she removed her jacket. “I know this is highly unusual ask”

“Careful, might have to put that on my resume, then you’ll never be able to get rid of me if I ever change work”, Heinrich replied back with a joking chuckle. “That being said, I always did prefer more hands-on experience and demonstrations.” Undoing his own jacket, before folding it and setting it aside in the seat he had been in, stepped forward to join her in suiting up. “Must be those older models that were the predecessor to the newer EASE suits I’ve heard about. Just slip in through the back right?”

Draco giggled “I’m sure I’ll never hear the end of it from Gale, and Asteri if that happens” She said, and moved to the back and ducked her head. “Yup, though there are some upgrades that use part of that too, they try to make it as familiar as possible.” she said, before adding “yup, inside here are handles that help you get in, see?” she said and showed him what she was talking about as she climbed in, and the armor closed up and sealed. Once Heinrich was in his Power Armor, she led the way out of the shuttle. Once on a solid asteroid, the shuttle moved off. “During the training period, the Mining Guild Miners are taught to immediately activate their Mineral Scanners when they get to a new spot, this lets them know precisely what ore is in front of them, or in our case, underneath us. You’ll be able to activate this, with your Geist” Draco said and immediately activated the Mineral scanner.

When Heinrich has done so, he will see a graph diagram, with squiggly lines showing traces of magnesium, iridium, sulfides, silver, gold, titanium, and minerals, but he’s also seeing something marked Other, at an extremely high level then the others.

It was bulky yet strong, the clunk indicative of its partially hydraulic mechanisms for when synthetic musculature wouldn’t cut it. The scanner was definitely interesting, reading the periodic listings across the bottom, but quirked an eyebrow at the one listed as “other”. “What’s this one listed at the end for? Unidentified deposits, or is it something just not classified yet that’s been found”, Heinrich asked as they had trundled along the rough and dusty surface. Was it something like the crystal-like growths that had been discovered on Andraeste, or something also completely unseen before?

Draco smiled as he noted the other reading. “Well, in the past things that were discovered after the other reading were very old unknown pieces of technology, but I think in the sector we’re located in, that could be special gemstones, or new metal, like the Ultrite that Station Omacron is made out of. We might have found a red diamond which, according to Miss Kurosaki, is very rare, also very priceless at about 1,000,000+, as for Ultrite, we get a lot of that from Pele. The red diamond has only been found one time back on Sirris 2 and that’s only because the Mining Guild wanted to be careful.” She said and moved into place and lifted her arms.

“Attached to the Power Armor arms are two tools, the Mole Claws, named after a cute little creature, and the Plasma Cutter Torch. Though they are tools, they can be considered a weapon, at least to an unarmed opponent. ” She said as she began realizing that maybe she should have given him the safety lesson. Something her father would have been disappointed about, she was certain.

She then activated her jetpacks and showed him how to use the tools attached to the arms of the Power Armor. The Mole Claws did their part to dig into the hard surface, and then the Plasma Cutter Torch was used for when there seemed to be something the Mole Claws couldn’t cut.

As the pair excavated a pit to get at what they were seeking, there were a few chunks of other deposits, much as Asteroids tended to be. The dust was almost like sand to a degree, save for that the clouds of it kicked up, simply drifted up and away as they propelled it with their digging. Dropping all the various bits of material into a bin that had been brought with them, Heinrich wondered what the large reading they were digging was. “I take it that whatever this is we’re looking for, has a high concentration among these asteroids?”

“Depending on what is found, ancient alien tech has already been found in sector A, and they suspect that that’s it for tech, same with latent plant and animal DNA. The asteroids are high in metal ores, and gemstones, I’m honestly thinking what we’ll find is rare if it's what I think, I mean could be some kind of sludge that’s covering minerals and causing a problem with the scanner. A small drone suddenly left her ANT power armor, and began sucking up the clouds and dust, allowing them some semblance of visibility.

Suddenly, Draco saw red, but it wasn’t because she was angry, or because there was an error, but because the area beneath them had a red spot. She used the mole claws to dig around the opposite side from Heinrich. “It's red at least.” she commented as she worked.

“Translation please, what does that mean? Is that color coding, or just stating that it's just red in coloration?” Maybe he was missing some lingo, or jargon here, but he had no idea as an outsider to this kind of thing either way. After all, he was a history teacher, not a miner. Sure he was getting hands on with it right now, but some of the context he was missing, also wasn’t being given to some degree either. “Wait, is red bad, or good”, he exclaimed as he wondered if it also meant some form of danger?!

Draco blinked her eyes and mentally head slapped herself. “Ah, right, sorry Heinrich! I’m beginning to see the ore here, and a part of it’s the thing we’re digging up here, see?’ She asked and pointed at it, making sure he could see what she was seeing. “I can see red from the parts that are sticking out of it.” she said, “I think based on that we are very close to getting at all of the ore. And yes, the ore itself, which might be a gemstone, was red in coloration. Sorry honey, I kinda forgot your new at this” She said with guilt sounding in her voice.

“Oh my, calling me honey now, how forward. It's fine, I know now. Though with how big this is starting to look, we definitely won’t be fitting it in the bin”, Heinrich answered, trying to assuage the apology somewhat. He probably shouldn’t have panicked as he had, but the “honey” was a surprising tickle to the chest. When was the last time anyone had called him that but his mother? It was strangely warming in a different way to hear from a different woman who wasn’t family.

“Oh! um er,” Draco blushed deep red in the ANT Power Armor as she processed how forward she was being. She decided to blame it on her half succubus biology. “Agreed, we might need to tow it, or use the Plasma cutter torch to make it smaller, but dad, and miss Kurosaki don’t like the idea of using it for that, since it is meant for hard rocks that the Mole claws can't dig through. This thing is huge, might be as big as a Strazce, or its abdomen. Though, we’ll likely get a Magpie to carry it for us, now that I think of it, they have huge containers for big things like this. And I had actually prepared for that too and got one waiting for the call.”

Heinrich took in the large thing as it was, after they uncovered more and more of it, admiring the sheer size of what they were digging up. “Yeah, power armor isn’t going to cut it… no pun intended. But we’ll need the shuttle to handle extraction, especially with something this size, otherwise it would be dangerous at our size even in these”, he added, gesturing along to their difference in scale. Mass was dangerous in space, and despite gravity not being present, it also meant that all that mass was free, and unrestricted in how it shifted direction. If they tried to lift it out, and one of them fell back, or so much as moved wrong, this huge chunk would just crush them easily.

Draco did a mental math in her mind as she dug and uncovered more and more of the thing they were digging up. It was certainly huge from what she could see, and as Heinrich spoke, she activated the ANT’s special call systems, to call for a Magpie industrial Shuttle assist. Fortunately, as she’d prepared for this, she could see one approaching.

“Magpie Industrial shuttle 2701 approaching your location” was the response the two heard on their comms. “A Magpie’s on her way, which means we’ll soon be able to move on to the next part of your Mining Guild Education. The transport and the refinement of ores, also as a bonus, cause of this historic occasion, we might be able to get an exhibit at the national museum too.” Draco said and she couldn’t help but comment about the bonus part.

The two in the ANT Power Armors were soon illuminated by a bright spotlight by the Magpie. Draco moved towards the edge and activated her jet pack, allowing her to fly off safely. “Follow me, ” she told Heinrich as the huge discovery was soon lifted using a tractor beam, and those operators in view used gravity and telekinetic magics to bring the haul up into the shuttle. Draco entered the airlock of the Magpie, and once Heinrich got in, the airlock closed, and Draco got out of the cumbersome armor, but remained in the undersuit.

She led the way to where the ore was contained, and where a man dressed in the foreman’s uniform was waiting. “Miners, Murakinos, and Oaklen, you two found a huge one, and depending on what the Mobile Refinery discovers, you two will get a huge haul.” He said, then blinked “Huh... Murakinos and Oaklen, I didn’t know they had members working as-oh!” He turned and found himself surprised to recognize the two of them. “Right, sorry, I almost forgot about the arrangement, sorry!” He said seemingly embarrassed.

“Hey hey hey, don’t sweat it man, I’m not here in any official capacity persay, so treat me like anyone else okay”, the prince said apologetically as he put his hands up in an equally apologetic gesture. Sure that was a huge thing to have dug up, but was it really museum worthy? It's not like they didn’t find deposits like that all the time right? This was starting to be a lot more exciting then he had imagined, or particularly wanted, as part of it felt like some of it was being done purely for his benefit to a degree. “I’m more interested in seeing how this thing is going to get refined and processed.”

Though that all being said, them now being in just undersuits, the damnable things tighter then what felt comfortable modestly speaking. It was a body glove and it left little to the imagination when it came to figure, and her’s… well he may have stolen a few glances on the way into the hold. Draco was extremely attractive, and the wiggle of her hips that swayed her rear as she walked, felt so naturally flaunting that it couldn’t help but draw his attention.

As Draco led the way, she couldn’t help but feel a little uncomfortable in the Undersuit. She understood their purpose, the ease to control the ANT, but she thought perhaps they needed updating, to be more modest in some cases. But thought if her mother or younger sisters used this, they’d be fine, or worse, they’d want as much skin showing. She knew just the two who’d want that and didn’t even need to think of it.

She was soon brought out of her thoughts by the Foremans words. “Indeed, alright then, Miner Oaklen, why don’t you and Miner Murakinos take a seat upstairs.” Draco nodded, and led the way up to where the employees sat when the Magpie was in transition, and everything was secure.

“See that?’ She asked him, pointing to a large, and long ship they were soon moving along side. “That’s the Dragon Class Mobile refinery. It’s mobile nature was decided on preference because of experiences back on the world you all came from. They didn’t want to add pollution to Sirris 2, but recognized they needed to release something elsewhere, better to do it out here away from people, or planets. Plus, they wanted to see if a Gas giant would form too, something that aids in the buffering of the Asteroids.” She said as she took out two helmets from a locker.

“For safety reasons, we can't actually go into the Mobile Refinery, I’ve arranged for you to see, at least not our organic bodies anyways, here, put this on, then press the button on the side there.” She said as Draco got comfortable, and opened her legs allowing him to see the cameltoe before his mind was temporarily transferred.

After Heinrich’s vision cleared, he’d find himself in a pod of some kind, but one that allowed him to leave as he started moving. The pod across from him opened up to reveal a robotic body, but with a name plaque that said Murakinos, he too had one that said his last name. “Hey, any dizziness? That’s supposed to be rare, for some people. “ Draco explained, before she began leading him on once more once confirmation of no dizziness was noted.

Thank the gods they had transferred, he was pretty sure his suit wasn’t going to be able to hide his perking up at this point. It was what led to a moment of pause before realizing that he had indeed transferred, “Oh yeah, I’m fine.” Stepping out, it was a little bit to get used to, as obviously this body was not to the same size as his own real one. It created a small irregularity in his movement at first, before adjusting to the new dimensions of the vessel he was borrowing.

“This is certainly one way to reduce workplace accidents, or potential casualties, but why not just just use the drones in an autonomous setting? Or is that normal, and we’re just the exception at the moment, for this demonstration”, Heinrich asked, already missing the wiggle. Not that it wasn’t there still, but well, it was all metal and synthetic materials with no jiggle.

Draco acted totally innocent as if she hadn’t intended on causing him to perk up by her actions. As she led him she listened as he spoke his observations verbally. “Reducing casualties was the major point to be made, in the refinery section it can get pretty hot, too hot for certain organic species. Remind me later if the opportunity arises to ask Gale, or Ulrick about how much heat Vaigarin are able to stand. Since the question came to mind, and for the most part it’s a bit of both. We do use drones autonomously, but sometimes if the interest in working in this environment comes up, these bodies are used. “ She said, though he’d noticed that unlike the two of them most of the workers didn’t have name tags.

“For this particular ship, we are the exception. “ She finished, and then pointed. “And here comes our ore” she said and the two could see it come in from a special tunnel. “The magpies have a special tube that can connect to the refinery to allow passage for the ore. “ She said as she led the way, paying attention to the tube, and where she was going so she didn’t cause an accident.

Heinrich would be able to watch as the large ore went through the conveyor belt, into the big machinery, but he’d be able to see inside, as if the walls were disappearing as he focused. He’ll be able to see the ore become refined, rock disappearing into a liquid state and the ore, now in much smaller pieces moving on. The molten rock was moved to another tube, as Draco continued leading Heinrich.

Finally, the refinement was complete and the gems were deposited into another machinery. “This machine gradually cools what we’ve just dug up, before it is sent elsewhere to be distributed. But since we dug it up for the demonstration, We’ll be able to decide where it should go. “ Draco said

The red gemstones were soon moved out of the machine in a crate. Draco stepped up to it, and looked down at the gems with the robotic optics.

“Then what are the uses for these particular kinds of gems, like what are the properties that make them usable?” They hadn’t really mentioned yet what it was they had even found, and as far as he knew, it had just been a massive bundle of pretty crystals. Surely they had a name, and purpose whether it be industrial, or even something else. “Surely you know right, given this must not have been the first time they’ve been discovered”, he asked further, as Heinrich was curious on how they should even decide.

“Depends on the gem, for the most part its jewelry, but some gems like diamonds, can be used in technology, like the Mole Claws, part of it is made out of diamonds for durability, some gems, can be used for magic, certain gems can give great power depending on when a person is born. Take Rubies for example, both natural and synthetic rubies are used in a variety of applications, such as watchmaking, medical instruments, and lasers, mostly because of their incredible strength and red fluorescence. Rubies can be used as talismans, mom once told me, in the ancient times,when she was a kid, warriors used to think they gave them strength and protection.” Draco said

“As for red diamonds, mom said that red diamonds have healing properties, that if someone wore it, that they’d heal on a physical and emotional level. Honestly Rubies and Diamonds seemed to be the same thing, in terms of symbolism of power, strength, as well as protection and guardianship. Mom once said that in the other place she has her club’s portal, in the leadership in the military wear a necklace with red gems. Whether these are rubies and diamonds, I don’t know”, Draco said.

“Well we could just give it the Mohs test to figure that out, both rate very differently on the scale. Diamonds are much harder, and therefore higher, making them extremely sturdy. Which makes sense given all diamonds are, is just densely packed crystalline carbon formed under great levels of pressure and heat. We can even make them artificially, almost as well as we do rubies artificially.” Heinrich may have been a history teacher, but geology was in there a bit too, given things like carbon dating being important for certain aspects and so on. So he was fairly knowledgeable in simpler topics of science, but nothing as complex as what their modern technology had begun to achieve.

Though a thought hit him as he brought pause to the other train of thought. He had completely just nerded out on her, and that made him feel bad, as he was supposed to be the student here.
